Suggested Books to Read

I have been asked this question a few times so I thought I would make a short list of books to

read. Especially in light of the utter garbage and heresy being put forth at my Parish by the

current Pastor, which will legitimize it to some. Just as our Mother warned us through Fr. Gobbi

at the end of the 20th century and others.

First and foremost is the Bible, read it often and always.

I have read both the Catholic Bible, the New American Standard, and the King James version

several times each, the NIV and NSRV editions, and the Torah, and I also have several other

versions for reference. I've read the Dead Sea Scrolls Bible, for historical references,  which is just

the Old Testament with a few extra books found in the caves around Qumran. ISBN 0-06060063-2

How we got the Bible    by Neil R. Lightfoot     ISBN 978-0-8010-1252-5

A very thorough examination of the Old and New Testament, how they came together

and the criteria used to reconcile differences between the ancient texts. With good

historical backup for the justification.

Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History by Eusebius who was a 3rd cent.

historian who compiled the history of the early church from Jesus' ministry to the

early 300's.              ISBN# 1-56563-371-7

Dolorous Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ

After the Bible the next book I would suggest is this one. This was the book used for the movie

the Passion of the Christ. Jesus likes it when we contemplate what he did for us, and how much

He loves us and the depths of His Divine Mercy. He stated to Saint Faustina that there is more

merit in 1 hour of meditation on His passion, than a whole year of flagellation that draws blood (369).

This book also contains a 60 page bio on life of the greatest visionary in Church history;

Sr. Anne Catherine Emmerick the greatest visionary

The bio at the link is a short version from the book.  ISBN 0-89555-210-8

        The 4 volume set (about 2000 pages) which includes the Dolorous Passion (no bio) called;

"The Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations",

        vol. 1 ISBN 0-89555-681-2  paperback

        vol. 2 ISBN 0-89555-682-0  paperback

        vol. 3 ISBN 0-89555-683-9  paperback

        vol. 4 ISBN 0-89555-684-7  paperback

        Set    ISBN 0-89555-685-5  paperback

There are some stories about the beginning, the Fall, Noah and the earth in the early years, then it

jumps up to the life of the Virgin Mary which it gives in great detail along with the birth and some stories

about Jesus' early days. The bulk of the work covers Jesus' ministry from His Baptism to His Death in

great detail, excellent reading.

Another most have is the Diary of Saint Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul

ISBN 0-944203-37-X Telephone 1-800-462-7426. Beautiful book that contains her 6 notebooks which

describe her relationship with our Lord in great detail, her trials and her mission to lay the foundation of

Divine Mercy Sunday and the Divine Mercy Chaplet and to help spread the message of the great gift from

Jesus, His unfathomable Divine Mercy for the World.
